Is It My Thyroid?

Answer the questions below to see if you’re experiencing symptoms of an under active thyroid. -photo credit Gratisography

That was the question that planted itself in the back of my mind. It was my 30th birthday in 2014, and I knew something was terribly wrong. As I started researching my symptoms, hypothyroidism (under active thyroid) kept coming up. Symptoms of thyroid dysfunction overlap with adrenal dysfunction and blood sugar imbalance; which is no surprise as all of these things are connected. Our bodies are not to be treated by their “parts”, but instead should be looked at as whole systems. If one thing is not functioning properly, then it will affect something else. This domino effect will continue until a crisis happens.

Everything is Connected

Typically, if your thyroid is not functioning properly, then other hormone glands are not functioning properly either. Addressing what I see as the foundation for health will bring everything back into balance, and provide a steady healing process.

After realizing I was hypothyroid, I discovered that many women I know experience the same symptoms I did. On the flip side, hyperthyroidism is when the thyroid is overactive. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism differ from hypothyroidism, and consist of: unexplained weight loss, irregular heartbeat, hot flashes/sweats, irritability, hunger, fatigue, restlessness, insomnia, irregular/short menstrual cycles, hyperactivity, mood swings, panic attacks, puffy eyes, hair loss, muscle weakness, and nervousness.

Stress, energetic foods, and not properly absorbing physical foods contribute to thyroid issues, as well as many other health challenges. If your thyroid isn’t performing well, it is not a life-sentence. This is simply a wake-up call to take action and reset your body and mind.

You can do the exercise below to help you determine if you may be experiencing the effects of an under active thyroid (hypothyroidism).

Answer “yes” or “no” to the questions below. Reach out to me here with your results and schedule a FREE consultation. You can also sign up for my monthly newsletter and receive an eBook on a CRITICAL mineral your thyroid needs for optimal function.

  1. Are you chronically tired, or have you become dependent upon caffeine or sugar for energy?
  2. Do you experience crashes in your energy level at certain times of the day?
  3. During the time of your energy crash, do you crave coffee or sugar?
  4. Do you experience episodes of getting “hangry?” (needing food immediately or you become angry)
  5. Do you experience severe mood swings, or feel like you are going from one extreme to the next in your emotions?
  6. Are you currently suffering from anxiety or depression?
  7. Do you have unexplained weight gain, or do you find yourself not able to lose weight when you are doing “the right things?”
  8. Do you crave carbs, sugar, or caffeine? (or all of them)
  9. Do you have headaches or migraines?
  10. Do you have trouble sleeping? (besides the usual with babies/kids)
  11. Have you lost your libido, or does sex sound like a chore rather than a fun way to bond with your spouse?

  13. Does your body temperature swing between being hot and cold?
  14. Do you have cold hands and feet most of the time?
  15. Is your hair thinning, or is it coming out more than normal?
  16. Is your skin dry, or do you have rashes?
