Benefits of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has received a lot of attention over the last several years. We know it’s healthy, but do you know just how AMAZING this stuff is? Here’s just a few reasons why you should be using coconut oil regularly.

Healthy Fatty Acids

1. The healthy fatty acids in coconut oil, known as MCTs, raise good cholesterol and provide energy. These medium chain fatty acids are also excellent for your brain.

Anti-Viral Properties and More

2. Coconut oil has both anti-microbial and anti-viral properties. Lauric acid makes up half of the fatty acids in this healthy trip. When we digest lauric acid, it makes a substance called monolaurin. Monolaurins can kill pathogens (viruses, bacteria, and fungi). Eating this oil is shown to kill bacteria that creates both staph and yeast infections.

The question is not the effectiveness, but the possibilities.Click To Tweet

Think of what it can kill that we don’t have recorded studies of yet? For example, various holistic nutritionists, healers, and functional medicine doctors believe that coconut oil fights Epstein Barr virus, which is possibly responsible for many endocrine system issues such as hypothyroidism. Either way, we know it’s a powerful anti-viral and anti-bacterial substance that is helping our bodies balance healthy and not-so-healthy bacteria.

What Kind is Best?

The least amount of processing is the best option. One kind that’s great is this one. I have a jar in my bathroom right now. I like it because it’s made within a couple hours of cutting the coconuts, and a technique known as cold-pressing is used. Cold-pressing allows the oil to be made without heat or other harsh processes that degrade the nutrients within the coconuts.

This oil is a practical and affordable food that provides nutrients and healing properties. Everyone should have a jar in their cabinet of natural and lasting remedies.
